Our Mission

Our mission is to empower the eating disorder professionals of Idaho to build connections with each other, to share our expertise and resources, and to collaborate/coordinate care in our efforts to offer individuals with eating disorders state-of-the-art treatment and the best chance of recovery. We also strive to grow our community of eating disorder professionals and to further our knowledge and understanding of eating disorder treatment by providing monthly continuing education events.

We support and believe in the Health at Every Sizeā„¢ (HAES) as foundational principles in social wellness, especially in eating disorder recovery. HAES is a philosophy that emphasizes self-care, respect, and well-being over weight-centric approaches to health. It recognizes that health is multifaceted and cannot be determined solely by a number on a scale. HAES promotes intuitive eating, joyful movement, and self-compassion as essential components of a balanced lifestyle. We ask that professionals that participate in continuing education through Eating Disorder Professionals of Idaho remain open-minded to such principles and educational standpoints.

We embrace diversity and create a safe space where individuals of all sizes, shapes, and backgrounds feel respected and valued. We empower individuals to make informed choices about their health and well-being, free from judgment or shame. We provide evidence-based information and resources to promote understanding and acceptance of HAES principles for professionals. We advocate for policies and practices that promote health equity and challenge weight-based discrimination in healthcare and society.
